Short forms

Words have short term
Like:
LOL: Laugh Out Loud
ROTFL: Roll On The Floor Laughing
OMG: Oh My Goodness (doesn't necessarily have to be goodness)


Anyway, why do we write short forms?
Is it because we are lazy?
Or is it easier?
Why? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
